A Free Extraction Booth - Sponsored Content for HAL Extraction

  • Las Vegas, NV – Of the many exhibitors at the 2021 Marijuana Business Conference, HAL Extraction will be the only one showing a UL-Listed Extraction Booth. HAL’s CID1 rated Extraction Booths are the first and only extraction booth to date to achieve this safety certification.

UL, Underwriters Laboratories, is a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory approved by OSHA to perform electrical safety testing on household products and beyond. For well over a century since its founding in 1894, UL has been ensuring product safety. If you look around your home, chances are that you’ll notice the UL seal on at least one electronic product nearby.

A Need for Safety in an Emerging Industry

In the early days of cannabis legalization, plant oil extraction was a risky business. Fires and explosions— and resulting injuries—were common due to dangerous extraction methods using highly explosive solvents.

“I knew thousands of lives would be at risk if the effective but dangerous open blasting extraction method—using butane camping fuel and turkey basters of flower— didn’t modernize to the safety standards of a legal industrial process,” says Linn Havelick, Certified Industrial Hygienist, and founder of HAL Extraction.

Seeing the dire need for a safer plant oil extraction process in the nascent cannabis industry, Havelick designed and patented the HAL Extraction Booth.

Though the HAL Extraction Booth was already one of the safest extraction spaces available, HAL’s engineers take safety seriously and achieved UL Listing in 2018.

“UL has been heavily involved in development of regulatory standards for all industries. They’ve become well known as the gold standard for electrical safety in the U.S. and around the world,” says Josh Gladfelter, Chief Engineer at HAL Extraction.

“The UL mark on our products shows that they have undergone stringent UL evaluation and are safe to use in an explosive environment. It shows our products are up to the highest safety standards in the industry,” Gladfelter says.

    UL Listing Speeds AHJ Approval

Beyond ensuring an extraction space is up to the highest standard of safety, a UL-Listed HAL Extraction Booth can be a boon to extractors by speeding along approval from the local Authority Having Jurisdiction.

“AHJs are familiar with Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories and will recognize UL as a top-tier safety standard setter. Their respect for the UL mark means that there will be less emphasis on ensuring that the technical specifications of the extraction booth are up to the standards the AHJ enforces,” Gladfelter says.

This means new labs can spend less time on setup and approval and begin profitable extractions sooner.

An Expanding Product Line Committed to Safety

As HAL Extraction grows as company, they are committed to keeping up their reputation for safety in new products, like the recently released Degassing Cabinet.
